A More Informed Holiday Feast

There is a shortage of frozen turkeys in Singapore (supply meeting demand is better than having too many leftover frozen turkeys in the market, I say), so it's grass-fed beef for Beef Wellington this year.

At the Asrils', we're making more informed choices: In the Omnivore's Dilemma, Michael Pollan made me believe grass-fed is better for you because cows' stomachs were meant to digest grass not corn. Meats from grass-fed cows are also proven to have marginally higher concentrations of antioxidants, some vitamins, linoleic acid, and 50 per cent more long-chain Omega-3s (though still below that of fish).

That said, beef is not planet-friendly, and not everyone can afford it, so we're thankful to be able to practice our choices, and to be able to indulge this way once a year.

Happy Holidays, everyone.
