Friend Of A Farmer

Mac and cheese. 

Looks like a (good) mess, and it is. This is The Farmer -- a hearty open chicken, bacon, sautéed onions and mushrooms, melted cheddar and mozzarella sandwich on buttered English muffins ($16). Friend of a Farmer is one of Alec Baldwin's favorite haunts. We like it too because of its cozy country atmosphere, plus pretty cocktails (and, we hear, a good cocktail hour at its less-than-ten-seats bar). Unfortunately, the fries needed more salt. The mac and cheese was creamy but two-dimensional, and that is not enough.
